Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees. One of its qualities is a high melting point ranging from 62 to 64 degrees centigrade. Beeswax is widely used in the production of cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals. It is used as protective coating in cheese. It is also used as a barrier cream similar to petroleum jelly in cosmetics.
Beeswax candles are preferred over candles made of paraffin. This is because they burn cleanly with little or no wax dripping down the sides. There is also very little visible smoke. Beeswax fine candles are commercially available. They are the preferred choice of those who have asthma and allergies.
