Candle scents of a baby

Choose your favorite scent!

Have you noticed newborn babies lately, like there are a lot of them?  There is nothing like the smell of a newborn baby, with all the scents of baby powder and lotion.

I can remember my kids when they were little, after a bath, when they were all clean, I would put johnsons lotion on them.  Not only were they soft, but they smelled wonderful, of course until they spit up.  None the less, it is a smell that makes you remember when yours were little.

Well, if you like the smell, there are baby powder scented candles available.  You can have the smell all the time minus the spit up.  Scented candles are a way of having the scents you like all the time.  Someday, I’ll have grandchildren and enjoy the real scent for a while, but until then, I guess, candles will suffice.  FYI, did you know that baby powder is one of the most sought after scents?  Kinda interesting huh?

Excellent Holiday Inspired Gifts

gel-candles

If you’re looking for a gift that will make the recipient’s holiday feel all the more special, here are a few holiday inspired gifts that are sure to delight:

~ Gel Candles: a gel candle differs from a wax candle because it is made of, you guessed it, gel, this however gives the candle some unique properties such as the flame giving off a colored light, and also the candle itself projecting its color onto the surface it is resting upon.

~Sleds and Sleighs: great if you live an area of the country that receives a lot of snow, and fun for the whole family!

~Fudge and Chocolate: what would the holidays be without tasty treats to satisfy the sweet tooth?  Most any recipient is sure to enjoy fudge or chocolate candies in a variety of flavors

~Snowglobes: these are classic holiday ornaments and at least one should be present in every household; both kids and adults love these fun items!

Tartburners also nitelights

Author: Wilscoscents

blessingsburnerDid you ever think your tart burner could double as a nitelight?  Well they can!  You can have the best of both worlds.  No need to shut the electric tart burners off at night because they are safe to run day and night.

Electric tartburners are run on light bulbs so you can leave them on without worry.  I keep one in the kitchen and at night, it doubles as a night light.  I can have the scents all day long and even into the night.  When the scents get weak, I can pop another tart, more chips or you can even add oil to the wax in the burner and have a whole new scent.

Do you have candles that have burned down?  You can even use the remains of those scented candles in your tartburners especially if you like the scent, get your moneys worth, don’t  throw out those candles, use them all.  With everyone going green, this is a start that most people don’t think of.

Wonderful Scents all day long

Author: Wilscoscents

Angel tart burnerDo you want to have the your home smell wonderful when you or your guests walk in the door?  Do you want the scent to last all day long?  The answer is tart burners!

You can have your house smell wonderful all day long without a flame or spray.  Tart burners will provide lasting scents to your home all the time.  The scents of Christmas are wonderful with a variety of tart scents.

Place a tart burner with your favorite scent in your kitchen,  living room, bathroom or anywhere you desire.  Electric tart burners are safe to use anywhere in your home.  They are run by a light bulb, not a flame.  Just place your favorite scented tart in the bowl and turn the switch, within minutes you will have wonderful scents billowing through the room.
I have gotten more comments about how wonderful my house smells since I started using tart burners because you can run them day and night.  When the scent fades,  just pop another tart in the bowl.  You can even change scents, any scent you desire, even bakery scents.  Some of these scents smell good enough to eat.  Warning:  It may make you hungry!!

Christmas is not too far away

Author: Wilscoscents

Angel tart burnerChristmas already?  Have you even thought about gifts yet?  I have,  but I don’t really want to.  I think it came way too fast this year.  I guess we have no choice but to get ready.

I want gifts that are easy, that I don’t have to think about.  I know I sound lazy, but I really am not.  I just get stressed even more this time of year.  I know that after Halloween, Thanksgiving, then, oh no, Christmas is here.

Myself, I like candles, tart burners, and any  scented little do dad.  I think candles are easy, but there are all  kinds of them out there.  The scents are wonderful, and there are really cute ones.

If you don’t want to get “just a candle”, there are tart burners that have designs to match any ones decor.  This stuff is easy enough.  What do they say, “give the gift that keeps on giving”

Any way don’t stress out like I do.  Let’s enjoy the sites, sounds and scents of the seasons. Take time for yourself too.

No Bites This Time Around

citronella-candle

I love summer, but I hate mosquitoes, and it seems like every summer I get bitten to death. I hate the idea of using synthetic bug spray to repel the biting bugs, so I have typically worn long clothing to avoid bites. This is a problem because long clothing gets annoying on hot days.

This year I have decided to try using citronella oil. Citronella oil is commonly used in aromatherapy and works well to keep mosquitoes at bay. A citronella candle and oil work well as insect repellants.

A Safe Alternative to Candles

soyEver since I was little I loved lighting candles and incense in my home to create natural lighting and an appealing aroma. I recently moved into a new home, and was reluctant to light a flame anywhere, even for one of my precious candles. After doing some research, I found that tart burners are a safe alternative.

A tart burner uses a light bulb to heat up a tart cup, and creates a similar effect as incense or a candle. There is a wide assortment of various tart cups that can be used with any tart burner. My favorites are soy tart cups, which look as tantalizing as they smell.

Simple Prayer Candles

votive

With so many candle options available today, making a choice can be difficult. There are many things to consider when you are purchasing a new candle, including: burn time, scent, design and the purpose. Candles are used for a variety of rites and ceremonies, as well as simply to decorate and create a unique ambiance.

Many people have heard the term “prayer candle” used for the small candles used in religious ceremonies, but the proper name is actually votive. Votives are typically two inches tall and are used in traditional Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox services. While these candles are an establishment in the church, you can find less conventional designs for use in your home.

Lining the Streets with Luminarias

christmas-tealight-candles

Living in a cul-de-sac certainly has its benefits. Foremost among them is the sense of camaraderie that has grown between our family and the neighbors over the years. In the summer we hold a collective garage sale, and most of the proceeds are put toward neighborhood improvement projects such as flower beds. That feeling of communal spirit continues throughout the year, and it’s especially noticeable at Christmas time.

My wife always puts a few Christmas tealight candles in the windows of our home, but the main project requires dozens of helping hands. Along with the residents of the other nearby cul-de-sacs, we begin saving paper bags several months in advance. A week before Christmas, we begin lining the curbs with luminarias – placing a lit candle in each bag and lending the neighborhood an otherworldly ambiance.
