Advantages of Soy Wax over Paraffin

Soy wax is a processed form of soybean oil. Soy wax is typically softer than paraffin wax. They also have a lower melting point. These qualities dictate that they be placed in containers when used as candle wax. However, they can also be made into pillar candles with the addition of certain additives.

Scented soy pillar candles are becoming popular as alternative to traditional paraffin wax candles. Soy candles are actually better choices because they burn longer. They come from natural materials; therefore their smoke does not contain carcinogen and other pollutants. Soy wax is also biodegradable and is a renewable resource which is a big help in the cause to save the environment. Soy wax is practical for home use; melted soy wax is easy to remove and clean off.

Better Qualities of Beeswax Candles

Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees. One of its qualities is a high melting point ranging from 62 to 64 degrees centigrade. Beeswax is widely used in the production of cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals. It is used as protective coating in cheese. It is also used as a barrier cream similar to petroleum jelly in cosmetics.

Beeswax candles are preferred over candles made of paraffin. This is because they burn cleanly with little or no wax dripping down the sides. There is also very little visible smoke. Beeswax fine candles are commercially available. They are the preferred choice of those who have asthma and allergies.
